After Breast Enlargement

Having breast enlargement is something that many women choose to do, and thanks to the drop in breast enlargement prices, it is a procedure that is now much more affordable. One side of breast augmentation surgery that many women either don’t think to look into, or would rather not look into is the potential complications that can occur after surgery. The risks of the procedure itself are clearly outlined before hand, with your surgeon ensuring that you fully understand what the process entails and what your end result is going to be.

Understanding the potential complications that can arise from breast implants is important, as you may well be able to spot the beginnings of a complication early and therefore reduce it’s severity. While some complications arise fairly shortly following surgery, others can occur as long as 10 years later. Here we will detail just some of the more common complications that can occur, just to provide a brief overview.

Infection is one of the biggest post-surgery risks, and in the first few days following surgery it is important to ensure you keep both yourself and your wounds healthy but resting, eating well and of course following your surgeons instructions carefully. Infection can appear within a few days or weeks following surgery, and while infection around a breast implant can be harder to treat than other types of infection, a course of antibiotics will usually clear it up.

Hematoma’s are another complication that will usually occur soon after surgery, although they can also occur following any kind of injury to the breast tissue and surrounding area. Hematoma’s are a pooling of blood in a body cavity, which in this case would be the area around the breast implant. Small hematoma’s will be absorbed by the body and will heal quickly and without medical intervention being needed. Larger hematoma’s will require surgical drains to help remove the blood and allow the area to heal properly. This method is generally very effective, and will only leave a very small scar, if any, in the site the drain was inserted.

Seroma’s are very similar to hematoma’s, however they consist purely of Serous Fluid, which again can pool in a body cavity, such as around a breast implant. As with hematoma’s, the fluid that pools will be re-absorbed by the body if it is a small amount, otherwise surgical drains can be used to drain the fluid away. It is important to get the correct treatment for both hematoma’s and seroma’s as they can lead to infection if left untreated for too long when surgical drains are required.

Capsular Contraction is where the scar tissue that forms around the breast implant tightens and hardens and starts to put pressure on the implant itself. It is normal for a capsule of scar tissue to form around breast implants, as this is the bodies way of sealing off what it sees as a foreign object. Capsular contraction tends to be more common following infection or a hematoma or seroma, although it can occur for apparently no reason. It ranges in severity from slight firmness of the breast with some discomfort to hardness and even distorted appearance of the breast accompanied by moderate to severe pain. In severe cases it will either be necessary to remove the tissue capsule, or remove and replace the implant.

While many women have breast enlargement surgery with no complications whatsoever, it doesn’t mean that it is an entirely risk-free procedure, so being aware of the potential complications allows you to be fully informed in your decision.

Celebrity Plastic Surgery

One of the factors that has made breast enhancement such a popular procedure is the celebrity factor. While cosmetic surgery has always been something those in the public eye have undergone, it is only in the last few years that it has become acceptable to admit to having any kind of surgery carried out. One of the most talked about procedures is breast augmentation, and as more celebrities admit to having it done, it’s popularity has increased, leading to a drop in breast enhancement prices as more clinics offer the procedure.

When it comes to celebrity boob jobs, one of the first names that springs to mind for most people is Jordan, who’s surgically enhanced breasts were probably the most talked about and photographed. Increasing her bust size from a 32B to a 32FF over the course of several operations, Jordan, now known by her real name, Katie Price became famous for her huge breasts. Unfortunately the size of her breasts were a classic example of how odd very large breasts can look on a small body, and this is one of the reasons that most surgeons are reluctant to perform drastic size increases when it comes to breast augmentation.

Other celebrities that have openly spoken about their breast enlargements are Gisele Bundchen, Demi Moore and Carmen Electra, all of whom went for more realistic size increases that did just enhance their natural figure rather than create an unnaturally large bust. While it has been seen as a positive thing that celebrities are now admitting that their seemingly perfect figures are not just down to good genes, diet and exercise, taking some of the pressure off women who may feel their figures are inadequate by comparison, there is also a downside to this. More and more women are seeing that they can achieve a figure just like their favourite celebrity by going under the knife and having the bits they don’t like changed with surgery. Viewing surgery as a shortcut to being happy with you body shape and size can be dangerous, as it can cause many women to forget that breast enlargement can actually be a major surgical procedure. While lower breast enlargement prices mean that it is more accessible to women, it shouldn’t cloud judgement when it comes to making the decision to undergo surgery, and thorough research into the process should be done before any decisions are made.

Breast Augmentation - Upkeep and Implant Replacement

Breast augmentation surgery is something many women undergo, and is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures around. While it is a very common procedure, it is still a form of major surgery and as such shouldn’t be rushed into. You should think about the reasons why you want to have bigger breasts and whether they will in fact be the answer to issues such as insecurity about your figure. Breast enlargement prices have come down as the procedure has become more popular, making it more affordable, however it is not just the initial surgery that you will need to be able to afford.

The initial cost of breast enlargement surgery is the main thing that people look at when deciding whether or not it is a viable option for them, and with many clinics now offering excellent finance packages, you may only need to be able to pay a deposit in order to have our surgery carried out. This is a great way to spread the cost of your surgery over a year or two and for many people allows their dream of having larger, firmer breasts to become a reality, but it is important to realise that the cost of breast augmentation doesn’t end once you have had your surgery. Saline breast implants only have a limited life span, and while this varies from person to person, on average it is around 10-15 years at which time you will need to re-visit your surgeon to discuss whether your implants need replacing. It may be that you find your implants don’t need replacing for anywhere up to 20 years, but it is still necessary to have regular checks on your breasts to ensure that your implants are in good condition and that there is no sign of leaking or even potential rupture. Silicone implants need regular checks as well as a leak or rupture in a silicone implant is going to be much less visible than in a saline implant as the silicone gel is a lot thicker and leaks a lot slower than saline. Having MRI scans every 2 to 3 years ensures your implants are in excellent condition.

Depending on the clinic, the cost of having your implants replaced at the end of their lifespan may well be less than the initial surgery, but this is something that varies and you should check with your clinic as to whether they offer any kind of maintenance deal where you will be able to have your check ups and any replacement surgery that is required at a favourable rate. This is one aspect of breast enlargement prices than many women fail to take into consideration, and while you will have a long enough period of time between your initial surgery and any subsequent replacement surgery that is required, it is still important to be sure that you will be able to afford the ongoing cost of breast augmentation surgery.
